Bullfrogs Swept Again

The Mankato Moondogs tallied two three-run innings en route to a dominating 7-1 victory over the Bullfrogs at Joannes Stadium on Thursday.

Mankato struck first with three runs in the third inning. A double from John Michael Twichell brought home Tim Arakawa for the first run of the game. Jonathon Rodriguez followed with another RBI double to score Twichell. After advancing to third on a deep fly ball to center field, Rodriguez scored on a wild pitch from Green Bay starter Bryce Bellin to take a 3-0 Moondogs lead after the third inning.

Mankato quickly came back in the fifth inning with three more runs to extend its lead to 6-0. Mankato scored on two more RBI doubles, including another from Rodriguez and one from Josh Fuentes. Matt Wollenzin finished off the scoring in the fifth inning with a RBI single to bring Fuentes home.

Green Bay finally got on the board in the bottom of the eighth inning. An RBI single from Tripp Martin scored Robert Youngdahl to cut the Moondogs lead down to 7-1. The Bullfrogs threatened the rest of the inning with the bases loaded, but Green Bay stranded three on the basepaths.

LPH Donovan Feenstra finished out the game retiring five of the six batters he faced to finish the 7-1 win and sweep the Bullfrogs. The win went to Moondogs starter Jon Perrin (5-2) and lost to Bullfrogs starter Bryce Bellin (1-5). Green Bay falls to 9-16 in the second half and 25-35 overall.
