Marie Holt, a devoted wife, mother, grandma, aunt and friend, passed away in March surrounded by her family.

Marie met her beloved husband, Richard Holt, when they were both seniors in high school. They went on to attend Denison University where Marie was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. Marie and Richard married in the spring of their senior year and graduated together from Denison University. They shared many wonderful years of boating and later traveling the country in their RV. Marie and Richard were married for 67 years and raised four children, creating a lifetime of cherished memories.

Marie’s life was a blessing and her love touched many. She will be forever remembered for her big heart, sweet smile and spunky spirit that lit up every room she walked into. Marie loved her involvement in PEO, was an avid “plant whisperer” with an incredible love and gift of gardening, and she always had a knack for telling a good story.

Marie leaves behind her husband, Richard Holt; four children Laurie Brandenburg (Jim), Mike Holt (Tracy), Joe Holt (Margaret), Susie Sprecher; eleven grandchildren Annie, Katie (Tom), Matt (Kelsey), John (Danika), Mary (Christian), Michael (Tory), Rachel, Madison, Morgan, Kylie (Mason), Ellie; and six great grandchildren AJ, Maya, Teddy, Brooks, Graham and Lucy, who will cherish her memory always.

A private celebration of Marie’s life will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Forbes Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin followed by a private family graveside burial.
