Elaine lived in Sheboygan for most of her adult life. She enjoyed her employment as the Arts and Crafts Director for the Sheboygan Senior Center. Active in youth programs at the Evangelical Free Church; girls clubs, the women's club, where she created many memorable table decorations and centerpieces, she especially loved teaching Sunday School to the young children. She always made visits special for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Elaine was happy to bake sweet treats at any occasion. Pies, cookies, and zucchini breads, no person trying her recipes could hope to match. Elaine loved to play table games with her favorite being Scrabble. Elaine spent many pleasant hours in her sewing room creating beautiful quilts, specifically making baby quilts and donating to the Linus Project. When she moved back to Sturgeon Bay, she enjoyed running into her cousins, family members and familiar faces. During her retirement she was able to spend more time on Washington Island which was one of her cherished joys. She was instrumental in the assembly of the Washington Island's Women's Club island quilt, mastering the "main road" section of the quilt and assembling the quilt squares for 20 years. Elaine was also thrilled with her part time gig at the Twice Around Shop on the Island, which handily was next door. Rarely would she pass up an opportunity to take a dip in the lake at Schoolhouse Beach. She was a strong women of faith, participating in bible studies and fellowship with members of the Community Church in Sturgeon Bay and Bethel Church when on the island. Daily she demonstrated her faith in her kindness and actions.
