Bennett LaChappelle, 61, of Little Sturgeon, passed away on April 5, 2026, after a yearlong courageous battle following heart surgery.
He was born in Two Rivers on Nov. 4, 1964, to Paul and Nancy (Meyer) LaChappelle. On April 16, 2011, he married Ann Gadzinski in Sturgeon Bay. Bennett was a 1983 graduate of Mishicot High School. After graduation, he took a job at Krueger International, working there for several years. He eventually settled into a career at C. Harvey Ready Mix in Manitowoc, working there for over 20 years.
Bennett loved the outdoors and enjoyed time fishing, gardening and driving his golf cart around the neighborhood to visit with friends. He also liked watching football and collecting antiques. He especially loved spending time with family and friends. Bennett will be remembered for his sense of humor and love for socializing with others. He even had a soft spot in his heart for animals and was known to take care of the stray cats near his home.
He is survived by his wife, 2 brothers, Brett (Sherrie) of Two Rivers, Brian (Lisa Maigatter) of Manitowoc; 2 sisters, LuAnn LaChappelle of Manitowoc, and Linda (Al) Johnson, of Stamford, CT; in-laws, Sue (Glenn) Nimmer of New Franken, Ronda Gadzinski (Tom Young) of Green Bay, and mother-in-law Donna Gadzinski of Kewaunee. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Bradley and Paul, sister Lynnette and father-in-law Robert Gadzinski.
A visitation is scheduled for 10:00 am to 1:00 pm on Friday April 17, 2026, at Forbes Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay. A memorial tribute to honor his life will be conducted at 1:00 pm. A celebration of life event will be held at a later date.
