Donna Jean Van Ramshorst, 65, of Sturgeon Bay, formerly of Washington Island, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 30, 2026 at her home.
She was born October 19, 1960, in Portland, Maine. Donna graduated from Glenbard High School in Carol Stream, Illinois with the Class of 1978. She was united in marriage with James Allen Van Ramshorst on December 29, 1978 at First Baptist Church in Wheaton, IL.
She worked on the EMS crew for Washington Island and then as a CNA for several nursing homes before going back to college. Donna attended and received her master’s degree in theology from Wartburg Theological Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa. She was a Deacon at Bayside Lutheran Church and later the interim Pastor.
Her most recent career was at Bellin Hospital as the Chaplain, a job that she worked at until her cancer diagnosis in July of 2025. Donna and Jim are members of Sturgeon Bay Moravian Church. She enjoyed gardening, being a "super host" for her Airbnb’s, and most importantly, being a grandmother to her five grandsons.
Donna will be missed by her loving husband of 47 years, Jim Van Ramshorst; sons, Josh and Eric (Marie Frank) Van Ramshorst; grandsons, Landon and Aiden and James, Sawyer, and Mason Van Ramshorst; siblings, David (Lois) Hales, Debbie (Ron) Miller, Darlene (Paul) Faxon, Diane (Rob) Miller, and Daniel Hales; siblings-in-law, Robert (Barb), Bill (Jan), and Jeanne (Kurt) Tewes; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service to honor Donna's life will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at 11:00 am at Huehns Funeral Home, 1414 Michigan St, Sturgeon Bay. Visitation for friends and family will be held at the funeral home from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
