Margaret Marie (Ehlers) Evenson
Margaret Marie Evenson, 96, was called Home to be with the Lord, Tuesday afternoon, April 7, 2026 at Door County Medical Center in Sturgeon Bay. She was born in Sturgeon Bay on January 3, 1930 to Earl Arnold and Amy Celina (Wilke) Ehlers. Margaret graduated from Sevastopol High School with the class of 1948. On October 21, 1948, she married her high school sweetheart, George Louis Evenson at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Valmy. A devoted member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Valmy, Margaret's faith was an important part of her life and a guiding influence in her love and service of others. Margaret will be missed by her three daughters, Linda (Barry) Solomon of Salt Lake City, UT, Kathy (Ken) Ploeckelman of East Troy, WI, and Amy (Rob) Hults of the Town of Jacksonport; 14 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, David Evenson; son-in-law, Joseph Stich; parents-in-law, Louis and Selma (Hendricks) Evenson; and other relatives. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Valmy, 4911 Brauer Road Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235 with Pastor Peter Martin officiating. Margaret will be laid to rest in the church cemetery, beside her husband, George. Visitation for family and friends will be held at the church on Saturday, April 18, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. Memorials may be given in her name to St. John Ev. Lutheran Church (4911 Brauer Road, Sturgeon Bay WI 54235) or Open Door Bird Sanctuary (4114 County Road I, Sturgeon Bay WI 54235; www.opendoorbirdsanctuary.org/).
