DNR receives studies showing restoration of Potawatomi Tower possible

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is looking at studies that support the restoration of the observation tower at Potawatomi State Park in Sturgeon Bay.  Those studies, conducted by Wood Research and Development of Oregon, were presented at a meeting between the DNR and the Sturgeon Bay Historical Society.  Christie Weber, the historical society president, favors restoration and is encouraged that the DNR is willing to review the studies.

 


Wood Research Group is also conducting another study that Weber says would determine the cost of replacing tower components.

 

 

The DNR's acceptance of the studies comes two-months after concluding that the tower's wood components should no longer be used in a structural capacity.  The Sturgeon Bay Historical Society and the DNR are set to meet again May 14th.
