Students receive Rotary's Fine Arts Awards

Fine Art Awards of Excellence to students from the four Door County mainland schools was held Sunday afternoon at Crossroad at Big Creek in Sturgeon Bay.  The Sturgeon Bay Breakfast Rotary Club presented 21 students who were nominated by their teachers in the area of Art, Choral Music, Instrumental Music, Drama, Forensics and Journalism.  Greg Dietz, president of the Sturgeon Bay Breakfast Rotary Club, says the afternoon was filled with emotional recognitions by school staff and recipients.

The students recognized from Sevastopol were: Alexis Fields, Art, nominated by Klayton Kindt; Rachel Hietpas, Choral Music, nominated by Shannon Sheehan; Natalie Meikle, Drama, nominated by Amy Ensign; Mya Ploor, Instrumental Music, nominated by Tanya Hasenjager; and Margaret Hartman, Journalism, nominated by Mindy Vanderhoof.  From Gibraltar, the students recognized were: Eva Armbruster, Art, nominated by Emily Salm; Lia Smith, Choral Music, nominated by Mary Bondeson; Evan Henry, Drama, nominated by Lizbeth Thomas; Ethan Farnham, Forensics, nominated by Lizbeth Thomas; and Eric Hoyerman, Instrumental Music, nominated by Charlie Eckhardt.  The students from Southern Door were: Jessica Jacobson, Art, nominated by George Oimette; Margaret Grota, Choral Music, nominated by Bonnie Weydt; Shaina Skaletski, Drama, nominated by Bonnie Weydt and Catrina Williamson; Anna Huntley, Forensics, nominated by Jamie Teska and Catrina Williamson; and Alexis Jandrin, Instrumental Music, nominated by Naomi Files. The students from Sturgeon Bay who were recognized were: Ellie Johnson, Art, nominated by Nicole Herbst; Gracee Abeyta-DeDecker, Journalism, nominated by Nicole Herbst; Marley Gigstead, Choral Music, nominated by Leslie Hill; Brant Grahl, Drama, nominated by Leslie Hill; Josephine Morkin, Forensics, nominated by Claire Morkin; and Olivia Wery, Instrumental Music, nominated by Heidi Hintz.
