Student-made motorcycle finds local home

An Idlewild restaurant owner will not have to travel far on his new motorcycle to talk to the people who made it. John Grosbeier from CJ’s Bar and Grill won the “Lone Wolf,” a motorcycle rebuilt by members of Algoma High School’s Wolf Tech program, at a recent event held at Green Bay’s Vandervest Harley-Davidson. Grosbeier took a detour on his way home to show the bike off to the students and express his gratitude. Even though the bike took second in the contest held at the Northeast Wisconsin Motorama car show in March, Grosbeier says it is a winner to him.

Algoma Wolf Tech teacher Matt Abel says it was important for his students to see their work in action and to see the joy it brought.

Even though he turned down Grosbeier’s offer to take it for a spin, Abel did make sure he taught the new owner some of the high-tech features of the motorcycle including its Bluetooth light and music system. Abel hopes they are able to compete in the contest again next year.
