The popularity of houseplants among millennials has seen a huge spike locally as well as nationally. According to the HuffPost.com, young people are turning to plants, which require less attention than pets, to provide something to nurture. Reportedly more millennials are showing interest in plant collecting with the postings on Instagram. Todd Maas of Maas Floral and Greenhouse in Sturgeon Bay says he has seen a trend of younger consumers taking pride in growing plants, herbs, and vegetables.
Maas adds that succulent gardens are currently the most popular plant by far and gardening, in general, is crossing over many generations.
