If you plan on visiting Potawatomi State Park in the fall for the color or hunting seasons don't be surprised if you encounter a wait to get in. Park Manager Erin Brown Stender says the size of the park, over 1,200 acres in total, allows for a range of activities that aren't possible at smaller venues. The Friends of Potawatomi host the Run Wild event October 12th which includes hundreds of runners doing up to a quarter marathon. An easy way to beat the lines is to reserve a spot with the park's new online system.
Potawatomi is open year-round and offers lots of winter sports options as well.
