Marcia Kritzler-Egeland will be giving a talk Thursday at 2 PM at the Sturgeon Bay Public Library about her mother's escape from Europe in 1941. Millie Kritzler was Jewish and not even a teenager when she came across the Atlantic Ocean according to Community Relations Library Assistant Morgan Mann.
Kritzler and the other refugee children were taken in by the Quakers in Kansas City. She knew no one in the country before arriving. Kritzler had to build a new life here, a reminder that the toll of the Holocaust goes beyond just the loss of life under the Nazi regime.
