The Algoma Chamber of Commerce consulted water resource engineers two weeks ago regarding shoreline erosion near its location. The intense easterly winds, rain, and waves since turned it into an immediate project that was completed on Monday. A new rock wall is now in place to help protect the hill that slopes down to Crescent Beach says Executive Director Kay Smith.

Ice floes are disruptive to the beach in the spring once warmer temperatures begin to thaw Lake Michigan.
