Pandemic inspires new charitable group

After helping to spearhead the Door County Meal Cooperative this spring, Adam Peronto did not want to stop giving back. Last month he helped start Peninsula Charities, an organization that came together to continue to support the communities in Door and Kewaunee counties in hopes to inspire positive change. Over time, Peninsula Charities plans on organizing events to help raise money for local charities and offer services to satisfy other needs. Peronto says serving nearly 120,000 meals across Door County and in Algoma this spring inspired him and others to do more.

Peronto says they are currently brainstorming some other ideas right now to bring the community together to support a cause. Their Peninsula Brewery Battle held at Bridge Up Brewing last month raised around $3,000 for causes like the Friends of the Ahnapee Trail, The Ridges Sanctuary, Crossroads at Big Creek, the Boys and Girls Club of Door County, and the Door Community Child Development Center.
