Brussels blessing box helping more people in need

The pocket pantry outside of St. Francis and St. Mary Catholic Church is helping people beyond Brussels.  The Blessing Box, as it's been dubbed, was put in place nearly six months ago.  It's open to anyone in need or who can donate boxed or canned food and household items.  It was designed to help residents get needed items without having to drive to pantries in Sturgeon Bay or other locations.  Father Edward Looney, the pastor of St. Francis and St. Mary Parish, says he's seen just how popular the blessing box has become throughout Door County.

Father Looney says the parish will also start accepting canned good in the church foyer to keep them from freezing.  Non-perishable boxed goods will still be allowed in the blessing box.
