Washington Island Music Festival returns with new directors

After last year’s cancellation, the Washington Island Music Festival is back from August 2nd to August 13th with three new interim directors. Two of those directors, Stefanie Jacob and Scott Tisdel, have performed in the festival since 1994, and have taken part in the Milwaukee Chamber Orchestra. With this new title, both have had the responsibility of scheduling and programming the festival and contacting the musicians. Stefanie describes that their knowledge of and experience with the festival has helped them come into their new positions gracefully.

One of the struggles they experienced was finding how to logistically plan for the festival because it is entirely outside instead of within the performing arts center. This challenge forced them to reconsider some of the pieces that were previously scheduled. The festival showcases 12 musicians, most of whom have ties within Wisconsin. These musicians have already begun rehearsal and preparation for the eleven-day event. You can find information on scheduling, program, and location on the Washington Island Music Festival website
