A 50-year-old woman is in stable condition at Door County Medical Center after being rescued from the waters of Lake Michigan near Algoma Friday morning. Area fishermen spotted the woman approximately a quarter-mile from the shoreline. When the Kewaunee County Sheriff's Department was notified at 10:10 a.m., the woman was reportedly suffering from hypothermia. She was brought to shore at Algoma Harbor where she was later transported to the hospital. It is not believed there are other victims, but the incident is under investigation by the Kewaunee County Sheriff's Department and the Wisconsin Department of Criminal Investigation. The United States Coast Guard, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, the Algoma Police Department, and the Algoma Public Works Department assisted with the call.
