Matson named project manager for Door County Granary

A familiar face will join the Door County Granary team next month.

The Sturgeon Bay Historical Society announced Friday that Nicole Matson would be the Door County Granary’s project manager. Matson recently led the Door County Big Plant program, which expanded and became even more successful in 2022 after its introduction last year. She most recently worked for the Lakeshore Natural Resources Partnership as the coordinator for the Climate Change Coalition of Door County.

Beth Renstrom, the project’s Executive Director, says she is thrilled to have someone of Matson’s experience and caliber join their team as someone who can offer a fresh perspective and enthusiasm for what they are trying to accomplish. Matson says she was drawn to the significance of the former Teweles and Brandeis Grain Elevator, and she is excited to tell the historic structure’s story.

Matson will oversee fundraising, financial and contractual management, communications with partnering entities, and interface with the construction team when she officially begins her role in the middle of June.
