Summer camping protocol for State Parks

If you plan on camping in a State Park this summer, there are a few things you need to know before your stay. All of the State Parks are managed through the Wisconsin Department of Resources, so there are rules that you need to know when camping in one of the parks. In the past few years, Wisconsin State Parks have moved to become 100% reservable. Park Superintendent for Potawatomi and Whitefish Dune State Parks, Erin Brown Stender explains what that means.

Check in and check out time for State Parks is 3 o’clock, so campers must arrive for their reservations either at or after 3 o’clock and leave by 3 o’clock on their checkout date. Brown Stender reminds campers that generators are not allowed in Wisconsin State Parks, so you should reserve an electric site if you will be needing power during your stay. You should also be aware of your pet, making sure you are not leaving them unattended during your stay. More information on camping within a state park can be found at this link.
