You can walk for more than just pets on Saturday as Sturgeon Bay will also be the host of the annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s. Over $12,000 has already been raised to spread awareness for Alzheimer’s care, support, and research. It will be held at Graham Park, with the opening ceremony beginning at 9:40 a.m. before the walk kicks off at 10 a.m.
The event comes a week before former Wisconsin governor Marty Schreiber returns to Door County to speak at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Door County as the featured speaker at the church’s Sunday service on September 18th at 10 a.m. Schreiber details his experience caring for his wife Elaine after she developed Alzheimer’s in his book “My Two Elaines: Learning, Coping, and Surviving as an Alzheimer’s Caregiver.” He cared for his wife for 18 years before she passed away in April.
