Door County Custom Meats wants to make sure you stay safe with the voluntary recall of some of their products. The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection distributed the recall information on Monday. The Class I recall is for the business' jalapeno cheddar beef sticks, beef hot sticks, sweet bourbon smoked beef strips, and hot dogs. The recall was done voluntarily by Door County Custom Meats, and it is due to the products being misbranded and produced without the benefit of an inspection. Owner Keith Birnschein says it affected about 60 pounds of product and when the mistake was realized, they pulled it immediately. While a Class I recall is reserved for products with a reasonable probability that health consequences could occur, no illnesses from eating the affected items have been reported.
