Decisions looming for Jacque

His focus is on the end of the Wisconsin State Senate session on March 12th, but State Senator Andre Jacque knows he has some decisions coming up in the near future. The 1st Senate District boundaries changed when Governor Tony Evers signed his maps into law after the legislature’s approval, which now places him in a different district. His home in De Pere now sits in the 30th Senate District, where current State Senators Eric Wimberger and Robert Cowles reside. Jacque can continue to represent the First District until 2026 before he has to move, or he could run to represent the 30th District and try to win his second election in two years. Jacque feels the decision to approve the maps is a disservice to the constituents who elected him to represent them.

Jacque is also still mulling a third path where he would join former State Senator Roger Roth in the race to replace Rep. Mike Gallagher in the U.S. House of Representatives after he announced earlier this month that he would not run for re-election. Whether he runs or not, Jacque added that he would like to make those intentions sooner rather than later to give some finality to those who asked him to consider a run for Congress.
