During its meeting on Tuesday, one of the first of several upgrades for Kewaunee County Highway Department’s main shop in Footbridge will be looked at by the Kewaunee County Board. The board will be asked to approve $84,400 to purchase a new gas and diesel fuel pump for the main highway shop and new card readers for all four county-owned fueling stations. In both cases, the equipment is outdated, and it can no longer be repaired. According to the report detailed in the board’s agenda packet, the county’s other fueling sites have updated their pumps over the last few years. This will be one of many improvements to the main highway shop in the coming months and years. Kewaunee County Board Chairperson Dan Olson said earlier this month that after the facilities were reviewed by its new Highway Commissioner Marty Treml, they are looking to make the necessary repairs to its current shop rather than building something new.
The Kewaunee County Board will also hear the first reading of the county’s Floodplain Zoning Ordinance and vote on a resolution transferring unspent and surplus 2023 funds to this year when it meets on May 21st at 6 p.m. inside the Kewaunee County Administration Center in Kewaunee.
