You will find a surefire sign of summer on the streets of Sturgeon Bay this weekend, with the first Farmers’ Market of the year set for Saturday. Layout-wise, visitors to the market will see a small change this year as it will now span along 3rd Avenue from Michigan Street to Oregon Street and stretch from 2nd to 4th Avenue on Nebraska Street. For those looking for familiar items like locally grown produce, meats, cheese, arts and crafts, bakery items, and more, Destination Sturgeon Bay Marketing Coordinator Alexa Soto says you will be able to find them among the 80-plus vendors set to participate this year.
The Sturgeon Bay Farmers' Market is also one of two in the county that participates in the United Way's Food Token program, which allows FoodShare participants to exchange some of those dollars to be used at different vendors. The organization announced on Sunday that every $1 token you buy will be matched with a second token courtesy of a partnership with Door County Medical Center.
The market is set to run every Saturday morning from 8 am until noon through October 12th.
