As the final visitors depart the peninsula on Labor Day, Destination Door County President and CEO Jon Jarosh is ready to kick off the fall tourism season. While the county is known for its summer fun, approximately 30% of Door County’s lodging room activity occurs over the next several weeks through the end of November as people look to experience Door County’s fall foliage and other activities.
Last weekend’s Sister Bay Marina Fest kicked off a busy stretch of fall events, including Baileys Harbor Autumn Fest on Sept. 12, Sturgeon Bay Harvest Fest on Sept. 18 and 19, Egg Harbor Pumpkin Patch on Oct. 10 and 11, and Sister Bay Fall Fest from Oct. 16-18.
With fall, however, come different hours and other impacts due to reduced staffing. Jarosh says it is a great time to visit, especially if you have been waiting for some of the heavier crowds to disperse.
If you are keeping track, Travel Wisconsin is predicting that Door County will reach peak color during the third week of October, weather permitting.
