The Door County Housing Partnership will reach a major milestone later this month when it breaks ground on its 10th home. Formed in 2021, the Door County Housing Partnership operates on a community land trust model designed to keep homes and their properties affordable for low- to middle-income working families to purchase.
The homes built during that time have been split between Sister Bay and Sturgeon Bay. The 10th home will be on Galley Place, close to others built by the organization, including its first home in 2022. The organization has worked with Door County Habitat for Humanity and private homebuilders to help make affordable homes a reality for people wanting to live and work in the area.
Mariah Goode has worked in affordable housing for more than 25 years, and she is proud of the work the Door County Housing Partnership has done in the community.
The Door County Housing Partnership will host its groundbreaking at 2:30 p.m. on Sept. 15. The event coincides with the kickoff of its annual campaign to raise enough money to support the construction of two or more homes in 2027.
