Fish Creek man dies after water rescue Monday

A 48-year-old Fish Creek man was pulled from the water at Peninsula State Park on Monday and later died at the hospital.

 

According to a joint statement from the Door County Sheriff’s Department and Gibraltar Police Department, the two agencies responded to Nicolet Bay after receiving a report that Grant A. Vytlacil had been found unresponsive in the water. Lifesaving measures were performed after Vytlacil was pulled from the water, but he later died at the hospital.

 

Gibraltar Fire and Emergency Services, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and Door County Emergency Services also assisted at the scene.

 

Officials with the Door County Sheriff’s Department and Gibraltar Police Department thanked bystanders who assisted agencies with bringing Vytlacil to shore.

 

The case is considered closed, and no further information will be released.
