Even though summer is in its twilight and school is back in session, you will have to pay extra attention to the roads this weekend with two major events taking place in Door County.
On Saturday, dozens of Jeeps will take to the road to benefit DOOR CANcer during the annual Door County Jeep Jam. The event takes Jeep owners and DOOR CANcer supporters on a drive through Baileys Harbor, Sister Bay, Ephraim, Fish Creek and Peninsula State Park before returning to Thirsty Cow Tap House for live music, food and auctions.
You can still register for Door County Jeep Jam, which raised more than $19,000 for DOOR CANcer last year. During the event, Jeep drivers will have a police escort, allowing them to proceed through red lights and stop signs.
On Sunday, the Jeeps give way to 3,000 bicycles as the Door County Century hits the pavement. Starting at John Miles County Park in Sturgeon Bay, the event offers four distances ranging from 30 to 100 miles, taking cyclists as far north as Ellison Bay. All four distances are sold out.
Motorists and cyclists are encouraged to travel cautiously and follow the rules of the road.
