It is not every production where the cast has the show’s playwright looking on, but that has been the case for Third Avenue Playworks’ world premiere of “The Call List.”
Written by Brian James Polak and starring Eva Nimmer, “The Call List” tells the story of a young woman who is handed a list of names to call to alert them of a law firm client’s death, only to discover a mystery unfolding in front of her.
It is a show Artistic Director Jacob Janssen has been helping Polak develop for many years. “The Call List” was previously workshopped at the Door Kinetic Arts Festival before being completely rewritten. Janssen says it has been exciting for everybody to be part of the show’s evolution from words on a page to a production on stage.
“The Call List” is part of the World Premiere Wisconsin Festival and will first take the stage at Third Avenue Playworks on Sept. 23. You can also expect more premieres in the future as Janssen’s team reads through more than 700 scripts that could be part of a winter festival of productions.
