Between the chatter, excited greetings, and pleas to purchase raffle tickets, Door County’s female movers and shakers celebrated a year of community support and action at the 10th annual Women’s Fund of Door County Celebrate Women Luncheon on Friday at Stone Harbor Resort and Conference center in Sturgeon Bay.
For the 17th consecutive year, Marti Spittell Ziegelbauer enraptured the room, with details about the $245,000 granted to Door County organizations during the last year.
Highlighted was a $5,000 grantee - the Door County Medical Center’s Birthing Center - and Registered Nurse and Lactation consultant Jessica Skinner talked about the equipment and supplies the birthing center purchased with the grant money, and the support that money has provided DCMC’s lactation depot. To date, women in our community have donated over almost 5 times the amount of breast milk to the milk bank that has been used in our community.
