You will notice new shades of orange on your drive through southern Door County for the next few weeks, but it is not because the leaves are changing colors.
The Door County Highway Department announced Monday that it has begun work on County Highway H between State Highway 57 and Stone Road. According to Door County Highway Commissioner Matt Decur, grading and compaction will begin next week after crews pulverize the existing asphalt and excavate intersections and driveways.
Paving will begin the week of Oct. 5, with the project expected to be completed by Oct. 23.
Traffic will be controlled by flagging operations. Decur is asking motorists to obey all signage, use caution around construction crews and equipment, and avoid driving on the oiled surface between layers of asphalt once paving begins.
