Money raised through a longtime fundraiser at Hope United Church of Christ in Sturgeon Bay will help support more than a dozen local charitable organizations.
The church’s Benevolent Committee uses proceeds from its twice-yearly rummage sales to provide financial support to local charities, while also helping meet needs within the church that fall outside its regular budget. According to Hope UCC, supporting local organizations with rummage-sale proceeds has been part of the committee’s work for years.
Hope board member Ann Quale said the community benefit is an important part of the fundraiser.
“The money that the Benevolent Foundation receives goes to over 15 local charitable organizations,” Quale said.
The fundraising continues this weekend with the church’s annual fall rummage sale. The sale is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 25, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 26, from 9 a.m. to noon at Hope United Church of Christ, Sturgeon Bay.
“There are children's things, sporting goods, adult clothing, coats, books, games and holiday décor, anything you can think of, we’ve got it,” Quale said.
Items will be individually priced Friday. On Saturday, shoppers can fill an eligible grocery bag for $5.
The sale provides an opportunity to purchase donated items while helping generate funds that will be distributed to charitable organizations serving the Door County community.
