The 2026-27 deer hunting season moves into its next phase this weekend when the gun deer hunt for hunters with disabilities begins Saturday.
Qualified hunters had to sign up by Sept. 15 to participate in the hunt. Eligible hunters include those with permits that allow them to hunt from a stationary vehicle (Class A or Class B), use a laser sight (Class C), or use an adaptive device to facilitate the use of a firearm (Class D).
From Oct. 3-9, participating hunters must hunt on property sponsored and enrolled in the program. The Muskrat City Sportsman’s Club and Luxemburg Sportsman’s Club are among dozens of sponsors across the state that work with registered hunters with disabilities to help them harvest a buck or doe.
The season continues through Oct. 11, coinciding with the youth deer hunt.
According to the most recent data released by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, 61 deer, including 27 antlered deer, have been harvested in Door County since the hunting season began Sept. 12. In Kewaunee County, hunters have harvested 33 deer, including 22 antlered deer.
