Before hibernation sets in, Winnie-the-Pooh is spending time at Write On Door County, in Fish Creek (Juddville, actually, Pooh).

This Saturday morning, the writing center is hosting a workshop on creating memorable characters. Few children’s characters celebrate their 100th birthdays! Space is limited, please pre-register.

Write On is celebrating the centennial anniversary of the publication of Winnie-the-Pooh in partnership with the Friends of the Door County Library. At Write On, you can find kits to help you write a letter to Pooh. At the end of the month, letters will be collected and mailed from Door County to the official collection box in Hartfield, England, where letters to Pooh have been sent for decades.

During open hours, you and your friends can explore the nature trails with writing activities inspired by Pooh. Write On helped create a Pooh-etry trail at Newport State Park that is open for hiking.

If you love Winnie-the-Pooh, Door County is turning October into a celebration of the beloved bear, his friends and the timeless stories of A.A. Milne. Winnie-Pooh-Looza marks the 100th anniversary of the publication of Milne’s classic “Winnie-the-Pooh,” first published in 1926. The countywide celebration, organized by the Friends of Door County Libraries, features activities throughout October, including Hundred Acre Wood walks, story and poetry trails, creative workshops, nature activities and special programs at Door County’s eight libraries.
