Wilson's Wish says goodbye

Category: Local News

For "Farmer Dave" and Tonya Edwards, it's the goodbyes that hurt the most. Late this summer, the founders of Wilson's Wish announced they would be saying goodbye to their Luxemburg farm to move closer to family. The farm provided refuge for animals others felt they could no longer care for, including Lily Beans, a goat that uses a wheelchair, and Lyle, a three-legged cow.

Many of the Wilson's Wish animals were introduced to groups on the farm and at other locations throughout the community to demonstrate the power of inclusion among animals.

In recent weeks, the Edwardses have helped find new homes for the animals and sold their farm ahead of their move to the Wautoma area. Tonya Edwards says it was the generosity of the community that kept them going after they took on the challenge in 2019.

Edwards hopes this isn't goodbye for good. While they will no longer care for animals daily, she hopes "The Wish" will transform into a nonprofit organization that helps provide safe passage for animals seeking a second chance in a new home.
