For the first time since 2020, your friendly neighborhood ghosts, goblins, and ghouls will be able to take to the streets on a Saturday for Halloween. The novelty is not lost on community organizers and leaders alike.
While most communities host trick-or-treating on Halloween, Luxemburg and Casco usually hold their festivities the Sunday before. With Halloween falling on a Saturday this year, both communities will also hold trick-or-treating that day, although at their traditional times of noon to 2 p.m. in Casco and 2 to 4 p.m. in Luxemburg. Kewaunee (3 to 6 p.m.) and Algoma (4 to 6 p.m.) will hold their trick-or-treating festivities later in the day.
In Door County, several communities are taking advantage of the Saturday Halloween to incorporate their spooky traditions into the holiday itself. Egg Harbor, Ephraim, Sturgeon Bay, Fish Creek and Baileys Harbor are among the communities hosting special Halloween festivities, including trick-or-treating at local businesses and attractions, costume parades and contests, and other activities inviting families to get into the Halloween spirit before touring neighborhoods in search of more candy.
Destination Sturgeon Bay's Alexa Soto says its Thrills and Chills event will be even more special this year because of the Saturday date and the involvement of the local community.
Regular trick-or-treating hours will still take place in Baileys Harbor and Sturgeon Bay, beginning at 4 p.m.
