Category: Local News

All Door and Kewaunee County entrepreneurs with a new business, side hustle, or great idea for the next best thing are invited to enter the annual Lighthouse Launch pitch contest.

Prize money, and the contest, are being offered by Door County Economic Development Corporation (DCEDC) and the University of Wisconsin-Extension, Kewaunee County. DCEDC Executive Director Michelle Lawrie explains what happens during the contest.

Pitch contest entrants must be 18 or older to enter, and the deadline for entry is Halloween, October 31. The Lighthouse Launch competition will be held Wednesday, Nov. 18 at 6 pm, at Stone Harbor Resort, in Sturgeon Bay.

Lawrie said that will the prize money is great, the true value of this contest comes in the form of valuable feedback, expanding your network, and building visibility for your venture.

Pitch development training sessions will be offered Tuesday, Oct. 27, from 5-6 pm, and Wednesday, Oct. 28, from 12-1 pm. The Oct. 27 workshop will be held at the DCEDC Office in Sturgeon Bay, while the Oct. 28 workshop will be held at the Kewaunee County Fairgrounds in Luxemburg. A virtual option will be available for both sessions.
