A little wind and rain won't stop one of Door County's oldest festivals from getting off on the right foot.
Sister Bay Fall Fest celebrates its 80th anniversary beginning Friday with weekend highlights such as the Friday night fish boil, Saturday's Fall Fest Parade at 11 a.m., featuring the Sister Bay/Liberty Grove Fire Department as grand marshal, and the Fall Fest Derby Race at 10 a.m. Saturday. Children's activities, live music and other festivities will also take place throughout the village.
One unwelcome guest could be the weather, with rain and strong winds expected Friday. Sister Bay Advancement Association's Abby Doobie and Erin Peddle says conditions should improve for the rest of the weekend, and organizers have plans in place to make Friday enjoyable despite the forecast.
As a result of Fall Fest, State Highway 42 will be closed through the village Saturday, Oct. 17, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, Oct. 18, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The former Shopko property will serve as a park-and-ride location, with additional shuttles available to help visitors get around the village.
