A 27-year-old Sturgeon Bay man told deputies he fell asleep behind the wheel before striking two trees and suffering suspected serious injuries over the weekend in the town of Sevastopol.
Deputies discovered the vehicle shortly before 5 a.m. Sunday. Evidence at the scene indicated the man was traveling north on Bay Shore Drive near Little Harbor Drive when he failed to negotiate a curve. His truck left the roadway, drove over a fallen tree, and struck a standing tree.
The truck was unoccupied when a deputy discovered it among the trees.
The driver was cited for failure to keep his vehicle under control, failure to wear a seat belt, and failure to notify police of the crash.
