The 80th annual Fall Festival was a topsy turvy event, with large crowds, two days of decent weather, and strong community spirit. Although the weather threw a curveball and forced a delayed Saturday morning set up for the Arts and Crafts vendors, the traditional activities went off as usual.
Noteworthy, amongst the treats and libations, is the designation of the Sister Bay Volunteer of the Year, who serves as the official Grand Marshal of the Fall Fest parade on Saturday morning.
This year, the Sister Bay/Liberty Grove Fire Department was chosen as the Volunteer(s) of the Year, due to their impact on the northern Door County communities.
In a statement from the Sister Bay Advancement Association, which hosts Fall Fest and chooses the Volunteer of the Year, organizers said,
“Their impact extends far beyond emergency response. Our firefighters and EMRs (emergency medical responders) are also local business owners, employees, neighbors, and volunteers who give so much of themselves to make our community special. They’re always ready to lend a hand at community events, whether that means giving Santa a ride into town for Capture the Spirit, helping launch ping pong balls on Sunday of Fall Fest, hosting a pancake breakfast, or playing an integral role in Marina Fest and s much more!”
Congratulations, and thank you, to the members of the SBLGFD.
