Administrator process delayed, Lang honored

Category: Local News

Sister Bay trustees officially accepted the resignation of Administrator Ben Andrews Tuesday evening, with little more than a quick voice vote on the agenda item of their monthly meeting at the Sister Bay Liberty Grove Fire Station.

After only 8 months of employing Andrews, the trustees, especially President Nate Bell, were focused on how to move forward with the duties necessary of operating the village. Discussion at both the Personnel Committee and Village Board level has focused on creating a Zoning Administrator position, to help reduce some of the more technical workload from the Administrator.

Tuesday’s meeting had been noticed with a resolution to create that Zoning Administrator position, but the Trustees tabled the topic, saying it was premature before finalizing the hiring process of a Village Administrator. The trustees authorized President Bell, and Personnel Committee Chair Louise Howson, to begin contacting potential candidates for a part-time, interim Administrator, to alleviate some work from staff and reduce legal consultations. The trustees voted not to exceed $10,000 in payments to an interim administrator.

In other business, Howson read out a Proclamation Honoring Joy Lang, for “her long-term volunteer efforts and her outstanding stewardship of the Village’s floral displays. The Village extends its gratitude and celebrates her enduring commitment to making Sister Bay a more vibrant, welcoming, and beautiful place for all.”

Lang has spearheaded the annual flowerbed plantings, and landscape care, around the Village. She has been co-owner of Jerry’s Flowers in the Village.

And the Sister Bay Historical Society is applying for annual Class B ‘beer’ and Class C ‘wine’ licenses, to cover the alcohol served a various events the organization now hosts throughout the year. With the three weekends of Christkindlmarket at the Corner of the Past historical village, the organization was exceeding the legally allowed event days that fall under a Temporary license.
