Voters in three area school districts will decide next Tuesday whether to allow their districts to exceed state-imposed revenue limits to help fund school operations.
The Luxemburg-Casco, Southern Door and Sturgeon Bay school districts are all seeking voter approval for operational referendums on the Nov. 3 ballot.
The Luxemburg-Casco School District is asking voters to approve $1.8 million annually for three years, replacing an existing three-year referendum approved in 2024 that provides the same amount of funding each year.
The Sturgeon Bay School District is seeking approval to exceed its revenue limit by $3.75 million annually for five years to support district operations, including more competitive teacher compensation.
The Southern Door School District is asking voters to approve $2.055 million annually for three years after a larger operational referendum failed in April.
All three districts have hosted community information sessions to answer questions and explain the financial challenges behind their requests.
Luxemburg-Casco Superintendent Jo-Ellen Fairbanks believes voters understand that the state's school funding formula has not kept pace with rising operational expenses.
Voters will also decide three proposed amendments to the Wisconsin Constitution addressing the closure of places of worship during emergencies, the governor's partial veto powers and affirmative action policies.
Other races on the ballot include governor, state Assembly and state Senate seats.
In-person absentee voting continues through Oct. 30 at participating municipal clerks' offices, with Election Day set for Tuesday, Nov. 3.
