Giving everyone a chance to shine is the goal of the Miss Magnificent Pageant, which is coming to Luxemburg in January for its Wisconsin debut.
The story began in Alabama, where former beauty pageant contestant and Miss Magnificent Pageantry founder Lillian Mason volunteered with therapeutic horseback riding and equine-assisted activities for people with special needs.
When Mason moved to Texas to become a teacher, she became involved with her school's Best Buddies chapter and developed a connection with a student who became fascinated with her beauty pageant background.
Fourteen years later, Miss Magnificent Pageantry has hosted events in Texas and Louisiana, crowning 94 queens, 108 princesses, and 33 escorts.
Mason and her husband moved to the area about a year ago so he could work at the power plant. Now a special education teacher at Luxemburg-Casco Intermediate School, Mason is looking forward to making a lasting impact when the inaugural Miss Magnificent Wisconsin Pageant takes the Luxemburg-Casco theater stage at 1 p.m. on Jan. 16.
Registration is now open through Dec. 11 for the Miss Magnificent Wisconsin Pageant
Participation is free for anyone ages 5 and older. More information about the pageant and registration here.
