Mother Nature gave Wisconsin farmers a helping hand last week, allowing them to move from field to field as they worked to finish harvesting crops and planting for next year.
According to the USDA's latest Crop Progress and Condition Report, farmers had 6.7 days suitable for fieldwork last week, two more than the previous week.
The favorable conditions helped farmers make significant progress, with the soybean harvest reaching 87% completion, 11 percentage points ahead of the five-year average.
Farmers also made up ground on other crops, with the corn-for-grain harvest reaching 42% completion, just 1 percentage point behind the five-year average. Winter wheat planting reached 88% completion, 4 percentage points behind average.
