Residents at Door County Medical Center's Pete and Jelaine Horton Center Skilled Nursing Facility had several special guests Friday who helped celebrate Halloween while putting their school's annual fund theme into practice.
St. John Bosco Catholic School's 4K and 5K students dressed up in their Halloween costumes and visited the facility to play bingo with residents and see artwork they had created for them earlier in the year. The visit was part of St. John Bosco's "Faith in Action" theme for the school's annual fund drive, which supports its operations. St. John Bosco School Board Trustee Ashley Schanock says students are learning how small acts of kindness can make a difference, even at a young age.
Schanock says work is already underway for its Advent Angels project to collect food, tolietries, and other items to make lufe brighter this holiday season. The school's annual fund drive, which runs throughout the year, has already raised more than $20,000 toward its goal of $50,000 by the end of November.
