Voter turn out consistent

Categories: State News

Grey and windy autumn skies didn't deter the usual number of voters from the polls in Door County on Tuesday.

Accounting for the small voting population increase in Door County, voter turn out has stayed consistent the last three gubernatorial elections, with 17,767 votes cast November 3, 2026. In 2022, 17,441 votes, 2018 saw 17,136 votes, and 2014 was low with 15,243 votes.

Comparatively, during the last three presidential elections, voters totaled 21,050 in 2024; 20,208 in 2020; 17,776 in 2016.

Pollworkers said they had seen passionate, and engaged voter turnout at the end of voting time Tuesday evening.

The new voting location for District 6 and 7 at the ADRC of Door County in Sturgeon Bay, was a logistical improvement, said Dawn Kuelz, chief poll inspector for that polling place. Formerly at PATH of Door County on Jaycee Court, the ADRC provided easy parking and accessible facilities starting with the November 2026 election.
