Luella D. Viste

Luella D. Viste, 98, formerly of Sturgeon Bay, passed away on March13, 2019 at the  Algoma Long Term Care Unit.

Luella was born on April 27,1920, in Sturgeon Bay to William and Ella (Diefenbach) Hanson. She was only two years old when she lost her mother to TB.  William subsequently married Lena Nieman and together they raised Luella and her seven siblings. On September 30, 1940, Luella married Hans Olsen in Manistique, Ml, and to that union a daughter, Myrna, was born. Luella married Lawrence Viste in 1971 in Sturgeon Bay and became the mother of Lawrence's son, Gary.

Luella Viste is survived by her daughter, Myrna (William) Groth of Omro, Wl. She is further survived by her grandchildren Laurie Pecher of Omro, and Richard (Ella) Groth of Tacoma, WA and the Viste grandchildren Ben (Angel), Courtney (son Cole), Chelsea Schopf, all of Door County, and Sean (Chelsea and their daughters Coral and Chloe) of Neosho, Wl. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren Alesha Neitzke of Oshkosh and Michael (Audra) Pecher in ltaly, Adam and Emily Groth of Seattle, and great-great-grandchildren Ava, Emerson, Milayna and Aurik. Surviving sisters-in-law include Mary Ann Hanson of Rotonda West, FL, Ruth Hanson of Black Creek, WI, and Georgiana Hanson of Sturgeon Bay. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and friends.

  ln addition to her husbands, Luella was predeceased by Gary Viste, all of her siblings Willard, Sylvia Viste, Harvey, Allen, June Hartel, James (in infancy), Floyd, and siblings-in-law Margaret Hanson and Albert Hartel.

  Family and friends may attend the gathering at Tanum-Forest Lutheran Church, County Trunk OO, Sturgeon Bay, Saturday, March 23, 2019 from 9:00 AM until the time of the Memorial Services at 11:00 AM with Rev. Peter Mannoja officiating.  Burial in the church cemetery.

The family would like to thank Algoma Long Term Care and Unity Hospice

for their compassionate care and support. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association.

  The Schinderle Funeral Home, Algoma, assisted the family with arrangements.
