Kathleen Louise Mudrock

Kathleen Louise Mudrock, 76, of Sister Bay, passed away late Thursday evening, September 24, 2020 at her home, with her family at her bedside.

She was born in La Crosse, July 25, 1944, the only child of Bernard and Gertrude (Arneson) Kahrhoff. Kathy attended St. Frederick’s in Cudahy, then continued her education at St. Mary’s Academy in St. Francis, going on to earn her B.S. in Communication and Business from Alverno College in Milwaukee. On September 29, 1962, she was united in marriage to Jerome “Jerry” R. Mudrock at St. Frederick’s Catholic Church in Cudahy. They were blessed with two children, Lynda and Brian.

Kathy retired as a VP of Human Resources at HK Systems Engineering in New Berlin where she was employed from 1974 until her retirement in 1999. In 1993, she and Jerry built their dream home in Door County and upon Jerry’s retirement from the Cudahy Fire Department, moved to Sister Bay year-round.

She was a member of the Alverno College Alumni, and a member of Stella Maris Parish-Sister Bay site (formerly St. Rosalia Parish in Sister Bay). She loved to watch the wildlife run through her yard. She loved to feed the birds and take care of the deer in the winter. Kathy enjoyed long walks, especially through Peninsula State Park. Her passions were reading and gardening. She was instrumental in launching the present-day Sister Bay-Liberty Grove Library (branch of the Door County Library) and worked there as a page and eventually volunteered. She was a “Steel Magnolia”, small in physical stature, Kathy in business heels, power jewelry, and a tough negotiator on the job, but kind, and fair. Proud of her Irish heritage, and named after the song “I’ll take you home again, Kathleen”, her fiery personality went hand in hand with her natural Auburn colored hair. She encouraged her granddaughters, “grandma’s wildflowers” to walk with their heads held high.

Kathy will be missed by her loving and caring husband, Jerry of Sister Bay; her two dear children, daughter, Lynda Pietruszka of Sister Bay and son, Brian (Kathy) Mudrock of Greendale; four precious granddaughters, Breanna (Tyler) Galeazzi, Holly (Neal) Stineman, Emily Pietruszka, and Madeline Pietruszka.

Due to COVID-19, a private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 2, 2020 with Father Thomas Farrell as celebrant. The Mass will be livestreamed via the “Casperson Funeral Home & Cremation Services” Facebook page. Those viewing from Facebook are encouraged to “Like” the funeral home Facebook page any time (prior) to the Mass to receive immediate notification of the broadcast.

Entombment will be in the Holy Sepulcher Cemetery Columbarium in Cudahy.

A celebration of Kathy’s Life is also being planned for the Milwaukee area, tentatively for July 2021.

Memorials may be given in her name for the Sister Bay-Liberty Grove Library (P.O. Box 347, Sister Bay, WI 54234) Library or Alverno College-Advancement (checks payable to Alverno College, P.O. Box 343922, Milwaukee, WI 53234; note Kathy Mudrock Memorial, Class of 1984 in memo).

“We were privileged to have known and loved Kathy.  She made us all better people by the example she led.  To all of you who have made her life’s journey an adventure, filled with love and happiness, we thank you; our family, friends, coworkers, partners at the Sister Bay library, Unity Hospice, Father Tom, and Becky, and so many others.”

Expressions of sympathy, memories, and photos of Kathy may be shared with her family at www.caspersonfuneralhome.com.
