Obituaries

James O. Kintopf

James Otto Kintopf, 86, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away on October 23, 2020, after a full and rich life.  He was born on January 26, 1934, in Sturgeon Bay to John and Ruth (Starr) Kintopf.  On April 4, 1959, he married Dorothy H. Rockwell in Sturgeon Bay.

Jim served his country for 2 years in the U.S. Army in Germany.  He was a past member and commander of the AMVETS Post #51.  Jim was also a member at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church where he served in many capacities.  He was the purchasing manager at Marine Travelift for many years.

Jim enjoyed crafting and woodworking and also taught a reupholstering class at NWTC for a number of years.  He also enjoyed spending time outdoors, often in the backyard with family and friends sharing stories and laughs.  Jim also liked golfing, and traveling with Dorothy, and especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.  Jim was a regular patron at the Corner Café for breakfast and enjoyed seeing his friends there.  

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; two daughters, Ginger (Peter) Ostrowski, Two Rivers; Gail (David) Arndt, Two Rivers; four grandchildren, Michael (Tara Willems) Ostrowski, Noelle (Corey) Evenson, Abigail (Alexander) Riegelman, Jordyn (special friend, Brandon) Arndt; three great-grandchildren, Lillian Evenson, Levi Evenson, and Jack Riegelman; four siblings, Milt (Barb) Kintopf, June Krauel, Jane (Fritz) Sperber, Alan (Linda) Kintopf; four sisters-in-law, Ruth Smith, Joan Krueger, Joanne Kintopf, Louise Kintopf; and countless nieces, nephews, cousins, and godchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, John Kintopf, Albert (Shirley) Kintopf, Norbert Kintopf; seven in-laws, Janice (“Butch”) Rockwell, Leo (Dode) Rockwell, Jack Rockwell, Mae (Walter) Haase, Marion (Al) Ash, Owen Krueger, and Gene (Pat) Rockwell

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday October 30, 2020, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church with Rev. Carl Schroeder officiating.  Burial will be at Bayside Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church on Friday.  Face masks will be required, and social distancing will be in place.  Forbes Funeral Home is assisting the family.  On-line condolences may be offered at forbesfuenralhome.com
