Arlene M Michiels

Arlene M Michiels, 84 of Denmark, died on Saturday, December 5, 2020, at home with her family by her side.

 

Born in Champion on October 9, 1936 to Rudolph and Doris (DeJardin) Mercier.

 

She graduated from Luxemburg High School with the Class of 1955.

 

Arlene married Bill Michiels on July 12, 1958 at St Joseph Church, Champion.  (Hottest Day of the Year)

 

In 1962 Arlene and Bill purchased the family farm where she truly appreciated and enjoyed raising her family and all of the work and fun related to life on the farm. 

 

Arlene was a person of tremendous faith, held a strong work ethic and was a supportive, active volunteer for her church.

 

Arlene enjoyed stitching quilts, playing cards, flower gardening and an afternoon nap, a quality that each of her children

proudly carries on.

 

Arlene enjoyed many years waitressing at Cliff and Ceils, and she truly relished her role as the Queen of the Head Table for many weddings. 

 

Her face lit up when it came to visits with grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Attending their activities held a favorite spot in her heart.  Nothing was more important to Arlene than faith and family.

 

Arlene is survived by her husband of 62 years, Bill and her six children, Lonnie (Joe) Loritz, John (Lynn) Michiels, Mary (Dan) Valenta, Barb (Tony) Loritz, Allen Michiels, Tami (Todd) O’Brien, all of Denmark; by eleven grandchildren Tyler (Breanna) Loritz, Brandon (Taylor) Loritz, Josh (Danielle) Michiels, Shane (Brooke) Michiels, Alex Michiels (Special Friend Brittany), Karli (Cuyler) Franzke, Elizabeth Valenta (Special Friend Rob), Brianne (Brandin) Arndt, Cami Loritz (Fiancé Jimmy Knackstedt), Abby O’Brien (Special Friend Travis), Kate O’Brien (Special Friend Ethan), four great-grandchildren, Julian, McKenna, Iver, Maren and Baby Arndt (due to arrive any day), and her special extended family friends Tim, Lucy, Sophie and Sam Stedl.  And her very best friend, her puppy Lacey.

She is further survived by one brother, Harlin Mercier; one sister, Jeanet

te (Stan) Dequaine; two sisters-in-law Betty Michiels and Carol Michiels; many nieces and nephews. 

Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, brother Galen, father in-law and mother in-law Frank and Clara Michiels; brothers in law and sisters in-law Betty Mercier, Marie (Dave) Ohrmundt, Florence (Gene) Deheck, Earl (Vi) Michiels, Leona (Leonard) Arendt, Leo Michiels, Bob (Mary) Michiels, Arnie (Dot) Michiels, Norman (Joyce) Michiels, Geraldine (Clarence) Lamal, Jerry Michiels, Walter Michiels, Donald Michiels, Donna Mae Michiels and one infant (Michiels) brother.

 

Friends may call at All Saints Church, Denmark, between 9:00 to 10:45 am on Thursday, December 10, 2020. 

 

Funeral 11:00 am Thursday at the church with Rev. Paul Demuth officiating.  Funeral mass will be live streamed through Facebook. Friend request Deacon Dave Scheuer Facebook page to view service.

 

Burial in All Saints cemetery, Denmark.
